You will be tempted to spend your energy and efforts on maintaining the affections of mankind. Shall we serve mankind? Yes. We are commanded so. Shall we serve with an aim to please every single one? impossible, UN-called-for, and above all…. not scriptural.
Galatians 1:10 “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Do not fall for it!
The human heart is fickle, always changing, and often lying in order to suit itself.
Our lives were designed for affection, but a far more glorious kind has been purchased at the cross. Jesus spent His life and last breath in the act of winning our hearts for Himself. Why would we aim to please anyone else, or live for some other, clearly inferior cause?
Make Jesus, His glory, His pleasure, and His will your aim. Some will agree with your choices along the way, but most definitely others won’t. So what! It’s not about me, or you, or them anyway. Right? It’s about Jesus, His blood, His passion, His Word, His Lordship, His reign, His peace, His love, His joy over you, and the life you (who believe) will share with Him for eternity,
