“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
(John 15:18 ESV)
If you lived a perfect life, with perfect doctrine and perfect love for people, would everyone treat you better? Maybe some would, but don’t count on it. Some will always mistreat you, put words in your mouth, slander, and even find a reason to hate you, because that is the fallen nature of humanity.
Look at Jesus’
There was no one more perfect in every way than Jesus Christ, and yet many hated and eventually killed Him.
Are we to expect better treatment if we follow Him?
Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
(John 15:20 ESV)
Christ did not come to please man, but His Father in Heaven. His ballast through life and death was the love and acceptance He knew from the Father, and the glory He would soon receive on the other side of, “Your will be done”.
Don’t live first to please others, but instead, be like Christ and live to do the will of the Father who sent you to place you are now. Do this for His glory alone. Come what may, stay this course! Love Jesus and live for His name until the day He receives you into the glory of His kingdom.
