Awe — “an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, fear, etc., produced by that which is grand, sublime, extremely powerful, or the like”
Psalm 47:2 “For Yahweh, the Most High, is awe-inspiring, a great King over all the earth.”
Deuteronomy 10:17 “For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which shows no partiality, nor takes bribes”
Who is your God? Are you overwhelmed by Him? Is He the awful, most terrifying, most powerful, righteous, creator of all? Will ALL mankind stand before His throne to be judged in truth? Yahweh is Supreme Creator and Judge, but He is also Savior to His people. In His sovereignty He sent His innocent Son, the lamb of God to pay the penalty for sin. The lamb was crushed under the fierce wrath of His Father. His blood was spilled. Completely. Every breath expelled under Majesty’s hand. All strength extinguished in the name of truth and justice. This was a day of awful judgement. He did this for your forgiveness, your freedom and your salvation. Are you inspired?
The wage earned for man’s sin is man’s eternal death. The payment to appease this penalty is death of the truly innocent. Jesus died this death. The offering was perfection, a currency we know nothing of. Jesus offered Himself, and God was satisfied.
God’s holy love is to be reverenced, admired and feared. It is the love of Yahweh, the Most High, the Great King over all the earth, who never changes.
God is love. This love is Jesus.
If you have never before been in awe of God, then be in awe today.
