The primary duty of the expository preacher is to expose what the text is actually saying. Be it verse by verse, topical, or series format, we must prayerfully and with proper exegesis, do our best to expose the intended reason for the authors writing it, as well as the Holy Spirit’s purpose of inspiration. Truly, Jesus is at the heart and soul of all Biblical doctrine and truth. Even when a particular line or precept seems to be more practical than theological, with further seeking we will find the character and nature of Christ even there.
Bottom line – We must preach Christ in our exposition – no matter what! When this is practiced, we undoubtedly will find the Gospel at the core of every sermon, and the true power to change peoples lives.
