Bad news can paralyze a person. Even those who believe in everlasting life can start to fear the brevity of life in the face of threats. The strongest among us cannot stand unaffected by the rumors of war, especially not to the scale that this world is capable of today.
But for the believer in Christ there is a great hope that we must remember.
“The end is not yet.” Matthew 24:6
These are the words of Jesus, our Lord. Our King. The One who orders times and seasons. The One in charge. The one who keeps the universe in the span of His hand. The one whose hands took nails for our redemption.
You hear of wars and the rumors of wars daily, but these things must come to pass. And should greater calamity come, and it eventually will, we will trust Jesus. We will stand with the testimony of Christ and our words of gospel-grace will bear witness of His work on the cross. His words of hope through us will continue to pierce through the darkness all around us.
God has stood with His people through every age and season, through every glorious day of praise and every dark valley of woe. He remains faithful and the Gospel remains true. 2 Timothy 2:13 1 Corinthians 1:9
Redemption and forgiveness of sins is still the reality for those who come to faith in the eternal Son of God. Romans 10:13
Do not let fear make you motionless in this world!
What should man fear more? The wars of man, or the coming of the Son of Man in the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory? Which one has greater implications? Mark 14:62
Church, keep proclaiming the news of redemption through the blood of Jesus. Our Enemy, Satan, wants nothing more than to keep us motionless and fearful, all but forgetting the commission we’ve been given. Stand firm in the finished work of Jesus and go forth in the power of the Spirit until the end, and not a moment sooner.
